Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to protect people — particularly children and at-risk adults — from harm that may arise through contact with Akili Ventures.

This includes harm resulting from:

• The conduct of Akili Ventures directors, employees, or partners; and
• The design or implementation of Akili Ventures’ processes and activities.

This Policy informs directors, employees, and partners of their safeguarding responsibilities and sets out Akili Ventures’ commitments.

This Policy does not cover:

• Sexual harassment in the workplace (addressed under the Workplace Harassment Policy);
• Safeguarding concerns in the wider community not perpetrated by Akili Ventures or associated personnel.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means taking all reasonable steps to:

• Prevent harm, particularly sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH);
• Protect children and vulnerable adults from harm; and
• Respond appropriately when harm does occur.
